  1. That image of Jesus, which is apparently a popular 20th century painting of him, sent me on an interesting fishing expedition reminiscent of college art history classes.

    If you ever have extra time downtown, it's interesting to go to the Art Institute and look at the religious art, to see how his image changes with time and among different cultures.

  2. Gauguin's "The Yellow Christ" (a familiar work at the art gallergy of my childhood) was a self-portrait. You can see the similarities of the facial features in this later work...

    Well, time to get back to work--but it was interesting to ponder how artists depict someone when we don't really know what they look like.
