GOD HELP US

The U.S. Olympic Committee today chose the Chicago over LA as the U.S. bid city to host the 2016 Summer Games.

One can only pray that Tokyo, Madrid or Rio de Janeiro will beat us in the next round.

At least there will be plenty of time to pack.

  4. Just think of the connected BOYZ and all of the construction cost over-runs!
Feeding time at the pig trough.

For example, the Millennium Park band shell had a proposed cost of $10.8 million, but ended up costing $60.3 million, a 558% cost (oops) over-run.

I'm thinking if Madrid gets the nod, I'd go.

  5. I think it would be fabulous; but I must confess to still getting misty eyed over seeing countries who've proven so adept at blowing each other's brains out competing instead at sport.

Not that I don't think the other countries might deserve it more, but definitely Chicago over LA or any other US city. (And just think at what the Olympics did for Barcelona's waterfront!)
