SET YOUR VCRs

PBS will air a special about the Buddha next Wednesday, April 7, from 8-10PM Central Time.

Narrated by Richard Gere, of course.

And at 10PM they'll show one of my favorite films of all time - Unmistaken Child, about the search for the reincarnation of a Tibetan lama. If you have doubts about karma and reincarnation, this incredible documentary will make them disappear.

  2. CK, could you remind me of your recipe for ginger-lemon morning tea? You left it in a comment thread at QTEV in about January.

Also, now that I'm living in your part of the country, I'm curious if you have a sort of local chyavanprash that you like.

If it's not a trouble, any other recommendations for seasonal change or smooth transition from a winter in India are most welcome.

Sun is blazing and the forecast says 72 in Ann Arbor this week! Hope the light is in Chicago as well.

  3. The morning yogi cleanser is simply hot water and lemon with honey or another sweetener.

I've been adding chopped ginger and turmeric to the boiling water, mostly because of the cold weather and to reduce inflammation from a recent ankle injury. The two also help clear congestion during allergy season.

  4. I don't know of any local chyavanprash. You may try asking Dr. Indu Arora, a local ayurveda expert:

  5. C.K., thank you! The tumeric is what I'd forgotten. Really good yesterday and today. I might even go for tumeric *root* if I get more sophisticated. In any case, this basic formula of warm water with lemon and local honey, probably a bit of ginger and herb, feels really good. As I get out of the chai habit, in particular.

I'll start investigating the chvwanaprash offerings...
