"When you begin to question your dream, awakening will not be far away."
-Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Hello there, you may just be the lady to ask. I've been looking for a word for word translation of the opening mantra. I have several done sentence by sentence, but would really like to know what each word means. Do you have any idea where I might be able to find this? I do hope so xx Esther
Dear Esther,There are three different things to consider: the sound of the mantra, the meaning of the mantra and the translation of the mantra. The last two are not necessarily the same (and sometimes, in my experience, the mind's quest for information can be a hindrance to absorbing the meaning. Adi Shankaracharya's famous hymn "Bhaja Govinada" is a testament to this). That said, a simple google search yielded this.Hopefully it is not a hindrance.
Thank you so much CKObviously my google skills are lacking. And thank you for the advice, yes my mind is probably really getting in the way. But this has been nagging at me for a while, maybe I can put it to rest now. Many thanks.Esther
You're very welcome. And I didn't mean *your* mind in particular - just *the* mind in general, in its quest for information, can become unsettled. We all suffer from it.
