C.K. -- After re-reading your article on HHDL, I went back to my old journals and found the notes I had taken the first time I saw him. It was July 21, 1981 at the Headquarters of the Theosophical Society in Wheaton, IL. A beautiful day with the event held outside. Maybe 300 people were there. It almost felt like a large family reunion!!! In reading your review, things have not changed. He stressed he was just a human being, and compassion was his message. I remember it as one of the most peaceful gathering I have ever been involved in.

What an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI also had the good fortune of seeing Thich Nhat Hanh at Loyola University, in 2003. Not the same. But the article is here.
